Two separate Fun Days were organised for Primary School children and Kindergarten children on April 9 and 12, respectively. Parents were invited to join their children in the games. Fun runs were held at the end of the events. Mummies, daddies, grandpas and grandmas all joined the children in the fun.
‘Fruit of the trees’ was the theme of Arbor Day celebrated on January 15th. The children brought a variety of fruit that grows on trees ranging from the most common apples and oranges to the less popular prunes, dates and figs. All the fruit was cleaned and cut up in portions for the children to taste. Emphasizing the importance of eating fruit as part of a healthy diet, the children helped themselves to a generous portion of fruit salad.
The Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi containing Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s ‘message to the athletes’ arrived at San Gwann Primary on Monday 7th December. School A and School B were thus able to join the many millions of people in other commonwealth nations in the celebrations for the XIX Commenwealth Games to be held in Delhi in October 2010.

On November 26th, our school joined other schools and Frie nds of the Earth Malta in sending out the message to ACT NOW. The activity, organized ahead of the World Summit on Climate Change which will take place in December, was aimed at raising awareness on the issue of climate change and to emphasize the importance of taking action NOW before it is too late.
On October 27, the stairway leading up to the football ground behind the school was reopened. Now our children can enjoy their PE lessons and other sports activities in a most welcoming and pleasant environment.

Special thanks go to the College Principal and the Football Nursery Club who worked together to make it possible.
On the 16th of October our young kids at San Gwann Primary A joined many other children in Malta and Gozo in a one-minue STAND UP as a sign of urgency to eliminate the violations of Human Rights and Extreme Poverty around the world.
The children, 230 in all, literally stood up as a group to remind the world to STOP POVERTY.

This year Animal Awareness Week at our School was celebrated with a difference.

The Animal Kingdom came together as primary and kindergarten classes adopted land and sea animals as their mascots. Children learnt about their mascots and their natual habitats producing interesting information for our first Notice Board Challenge.

All throughout the week we encouraged the students to donate food for the SPCA home. Our young children rose to the occasion and brought boxfuls of food. The generous donation was greatly appreciated by all at the SPCA home.
Intrigued by the children’s enthusiasm, our School accepted an invitation from Dog Trust Malta to visit the school believing that by educating the dog owners of tomorrow, we can help to reduce the number of abandoned, stray and unwanted dogs in the future. Interesting and interactive workshops with the participation of Kikki, a lovable dog, were held with Year 2 and 3 children.

Our young students learned about caring for dogs, res ponsible dog ownership and how to stay safe around dogs. The donation served to instil in the children a sense of altruism and empathy to the less fortunate ones even if they are animals.
